7 killed, 2 injured as vehicle plunges into gorge in Rajouri

At least seven persons were killed while two sustained injuries when a tempo traveller they were travelling in plunged into a gorge at Kewal Morh village here.

Reports said a tempo traveller (JK02AU 8910) skidded off theroad into a gorge at Kewal Morh village resulting in on spot death of twopersons and injuries to seven others.

   

Sarpanch of area, Farooq Inqlabi said that soon after theaccident, locals rushed towards the gorge and started rescue operation. Policeteam from Budhal also reached the spot and seven injured were shifted to Kandicommunity health centre where two of the injured succumbed to injuries.

Block medical officer Kandi, Dr. Iqbal Malik confirmed thattwo persons died on the spot while two others succumbed at Kandi CHC. He saidfive others were referred to Rajouri hospital, but on way two more injuredsuccumbed. Later one more injured succumbed to injuries at Rajouri hospital.

“Seven persons were killed in the incident while andtwo others are under treatment in Rajouri hospital,” block medical officerDr. Iqbal Malik further said.

The deceased were identified as Kulwant Singh son of SukhdevSingh resident of Kangota Budhal, Muhammad Taj son of Muhammad Hussain residentof Topa Mendhar, Abdul Rashid son of Muhammad Iqbal resident of Darhal, SunitSingh son of Chitar Singh resident of Tuli Reasi, his wife Kailash Deviresident of Tuli Reasi, Muhammad Manzoor son of Muhammad Din resident of RajnagarBudhal, Muhammad Farooq son of Muhammad Rashid resident of Tuli Reasi.
