With an aim of women empowerment, seven “women-only” polling booths were established by election authorities across Rajouri and Poonch districts in the first phase of polling on Thursday.
Four of the polling stations were setup in Rajouri district and the remaining three in Poonch district.
The women employees posted in the polling booths hailed government’s gesture.
Deputy commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Assad said that the main aim of setting up the women-only booths was the empowerment fairer sex.
