70.8% turnout in Rajouri, 71.6% in Poonch

The fifth phase of District Development Council elections in Rajouri and Poonch passed off smoothly barring two incidents on Thursday with voting took place in Lassana and Poonch DDC territorial constituencies of Poonch district and Kalakote and Dhangri constituencies of Rajouri district.

As per official details made available by government authorities, 68.9% turnover of voters has beeb registered in Poonch main DDC constituency whereas 74.3% voters casted their votes in Lassana constituency and overall voters turnover remained 71.6% in the district.

   

In Rajouri district, 71.5% voters turnover has been registered in Dhangri constituency whereas 70.2% in Kalakote with overall voters turnover remained at 70.8% in Rajouri district.

Officials said that barring a minor incident at Jhulas in Poonch where a BJP leader and a worker of PAGD entered in verbal duel, no other major incident took place in both the constituencies of Poonch.

“The incident of Jhulas was a minor one and no other incident of any kind took place anywhere and voting of fifth phase passed off smoothly.” Deputy Commissioner Poonch Rahul Yadav told Greater Kashmir.  He added that polling parties are reaching back in safe manner.
