71.2% voter turnout recorded in Rajouri, 75.4% in Poonch

Rajouri and Poonch districts on Monday registered a healthy turnout of voters for fourth phase of District Development Council elections with people living in shelling affected areas on Line of Control in Poonch voted for better telecom facility and earliest construction of safety bunkers.

In Rajouri, voting under fourth phase took place in Budhal Old B (Peeri) and Manjakote constituencies and in Nangali Sahib and Sathra constituencies of Poonch district.

   

In an official statement, authorities in Rajouri district said that 69.3% voters turnover has been registered in Budhal Old B (Peeri) constituency and 73% in Manjakote with overall voters turnover has been registered as 71.2%.

Similarly, in Poonch district, 73.8% voters turnover has been registered in Nangali Sahib DDC constituency and 77.5% in Sathra constituency and overall voters turnover has remained at 75.4%.

“The voters turnover remained healthy, one with long queues of voters in front of all the polling stations were witnessed and no untoward incident has been reported.” Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, Ramesh Angral said.

He added that polling parties are reaching back in the strong room of the district.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh on the other hand informed that voting in two DDC constituencies of Rajouri district took place in a peaceful atmosphere with no incident of untoward nature reported anywhere.
