Audit roads blacktopped in 2018: Rajouri residents urge admin

The residents of Rajouri district have appealed to the district administration and the Governor’s administration to audit all the roads blacktopped in 2018, alleging serious lacuna in the work which has now led to many roads being dilapidated.

Many people also shared photographs, videos and othercontent on social media platforms, alleging poor quality of work on severalroads executed by the Public Works (Roads and Buildings) department and PMGSYin the district.

   

Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Tandwal, said, “The DeputyCommissioner recently visited Mubarakh Pura and took note of poor qualityblacktopping work executed a months ago.”

Mohammad Rouf from Palma Kalalkass said, “The blacktoppingon local PMGSY road has already started to disarrange and road looksdilapidated. We demand a probe into the quality of the executed work.”

The residents of Darhal claimed that a portion of Darhalmain road was blacktopped only a few months ago, but the road is alreadydilapidated. “It is clearly a case of poor quality work. We demand a probeinto the matter and request the authorities to take note,” they said.

The people alleged that the concerned departments areallowing contractors to lay poor quality blacktop on roads, due to which thenewly-completed roads are wearing a dilapidated look.

On being contacted, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, MohammadAijaz Asad, said, “I received information about poor quality work on MubarakhPura to Sohana Gali road, for which I have already suspended a junior engineerand ordered a probe.”

He assured that all the complaints regarding poor qualitywork on roads completed recently will be taken up on priority.
