BGSBU hosts symposium on 'peace, progress and prosperity'

Prof Ahmed reiterated his vision for developing School of Management Studies into a centre of excellence by responding to emerging socio-economic challenges.

Under P2P initiative funded by Facebook, School of Management Studies, BGSB University organized a drawing competition and a symposium on “Peace, Progress & Prosperity”.

Speaking on the occasion, Dean School of Management Studies, Prof Naseem Ahmed highlighted the importance of peace for the progress and prosperity of mankind, a statement here said. 

He emphasizes on mutual understanding and respect for achieving sustainable peace. He congratulated the P2P team for their keen efforts throughout the campaign and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Prof. Javed Mussarat, Vice-Chancellor of the University congratulated the Dean and the faculty coordinator of the programme, Danish Iqbal Raina and their entire team for organizing the event.

In his address, he stressed upon the students to become the ambassadors of Peace, Progress & Prosperity.

Prof Mussarat highlighted his vision of transforming BGSBU as a centre of excellence in research and academics.

Speaking on the occasion he highlighted the importance of peace for progress and prosperity and discussed the role of BGSBU in spreading the message of peace to the entire mankind.

In the first half of the programme, 22 students from various departments of the university participated in the drawing competition.

The competition was held at the conference hall of School of Management Studies.

In the second half of the event 20 students from various departments of the university participated and presented their views on   ‘Peace Progress & Prosperity’.

They said various interventions need to be undertaken at personal as well as global level for making earth a happy planet for mankind.

The speakers said it is the peace within an individual that leads towards global peace and harmony.

On the occasion the students stressed upon shared values, tolerance and free speech against violence and hate speech.  

Irfan Masoodi, student of MBA presented a documentary made by the team during their visit in Kashmir.

Danish Iqbal Raina faculty coordinator of the P2P programme expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor of the university and Dean of the School for their support and guidance.

He highlighted the objectives of the programme and shared among the audience the experience the team had during the campaign within and outside the university campus.

 

Drawing competition

In the drawing competition held on the occasion, Khalida Anjum of English Department got first prize whereas in symposium Ahlam Farooq of English department received first prize.  

Sofia Mustaq of  MSc Zoology and Ulfat Andrabi MBA got 2nd and 3rd prizes in drawing respectively.

Sayeed Mudassir Btech CSE and Baseerat Mehraj MA economics got 2nd and 3rd Prize in symposium respectively.

Proceedings of the program were conducted by Irfaan Massodi and  Palvi Sharma , students of MBA.  

Asrar Gous Director Tourism and Hospitality , Dr . Dil Pazir , Head Economics ,  Roomina Rashid HOD English and other faculty members were present on the occasion.

A large number of students and research scholars were also present on the occasion.
