District administration of Friday ordered a probe into the alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) guidelines by the women cadre of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajouri.

As per reports available with Greater Kashmir, the women wing of BJP (Mahila Morcha) organized a programme in Pir Kanju on Thursday, wherein the women leaders of the party distributed LPG connections, marked under Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojna (PMUY), among some beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the incident came to fore on Friday after a photograph of the event went viral on social media. Pertinently, the district administration has ordered a probe into the incident as it is being considered as an MCC violation.

"We have ordered a probe and assistant director FCS&CA has been asked to submit a report," ADC Rajouri Sher Singh, who has the charge and responsibility of implementing MCC guidelines, said, adding, “If it gets established that an MCC violation took place, action as per law will be taken.”

Meanwhile, former MLA Rajouri Shabir Khan, who is also the district president of Congress party, raised questions over the implementation of MCC in Rajouri.

"I talked to DDC Rajouri in the afternoon also and have lodged concern towards the poor implementation of MCC in the district. MCC guidelines need to be implemented in letter and spirit, in order to make the election process fair," Khan said, while talking to Greater Kashmir.
