Body of PaK man handed over on LoC

The body of a Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) resident was handed over to Pakistani authorities at the Chakan Da Bagh crossing point on the Line of Control in Poonch on Wednesday.

The body was exhumed after seven months of burial in a graveyard in Mohra Kampala village of Nowshera division of Rajouri district.

   

An army officer, a magistrate and a doctor from Pakistan side reached at the LoC crossing point for taking over the body.

Sources informed that the body would be taken to the native village of the deceased where his family will perform his last rites.

The body was found on 23rd July 2018 in Sehar Makri village of Nowshera sector and was buried in Mohra Kampala village as ‘unidentified.’

During investigation later, the man was identified as Mohammad Arshad of Kotli Gujran village of PaK and his family made a plea to hand over the body for performing last rites in his native village. District magistrate Rajouri issued an order asking police to exhume the body from the grave and to hand over the same.
