Burglars ‘decamp with Rs 60 lakh’ in Rajouri

Unidentified burglars allegedly struck a cloth house in old town of Rajouri and decamped with Rs 60 lakh cash.

The locals alleged, “Under the garb of darkness, in the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday, unidentified burglars struck at a cloth house, ‘Fancy Cloth House’, located in Ward 9 of old town.”

Karamar Hussain, the man who runs the shop, alleged that the burglars decamped with over Rs 60 lakh cash from the shop.

Later, a police team also reached the spot and started an investigation.

Meanwhile the locals demanded an in-depth probe into the incident. “The administration and police need to arrest the guilty and put them behind bars soon,” they demanded, while claiming that majority of the street lights and high mast lights in Rajouri town lie defunct, due to which the burglars get a free pass.

They also urged upon the police to ensure intensive night patrolling, in order to keep a check on such incidents.
