Irked by the failure of the administration to construct even one community toilet, the prominent citizens of Thannamandi on Friday demanded the construction of the same at an earliest in order to facilitate locals, commuters as well as visitors.

The locals, including Mohammed Jamil, said, “Thannamandi town is densely populated and is also the business centre for the surrounding villages. The Mughal Road also passes through this town which has further increased the rush."

They further said that there isn’t any toilet facility in the town and visitors and people who visit Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah Shrine facing a lot of difficulty.

When contacted by Greater Kashmir, EO Municipal Committee Thannamandi said, “The department has proposed a plan and also has the required funds, but the problem is unavailability of land in the town area.”

He further said that DDC Rajouri has issued directions to the revenue department to identify land required for the construction of toilets.
