Day 5: ReT teachers continue hunger strike

Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers continued their chain hunger strike for the fifth consecutive day at district headquarters of Rajouri and Reasi on Friday.

At Rajouri, besides a number civil society members and leaders from mainstream political parties, state chairman JKReTTF Farooq Ahmed Tantray and state general secretary Jahangir Alam Khan also joined the strike on Friday.

   

The teachers continued to stage a sit-in in front of district development commissioner’s office and are demanding benefits of 7th pay commission as well as delinking of SSA salary from central to stage budget. 

Various trade unions, leaders of mainstream political parties including MLA Rajouri Qamar Chowdhary, National Conference district president Shafayat Khan, NC district youth president Qadir Khan, PDP district vice-president Jamsheed Chowdhary, Pt Prem Nath Sharma, veteran trade union leader, and civil society participated in the protest.

District president JKReTTF Aftab Tantray urged the authorities to consider the genuine demands of agitating teachers, while the spokesman elaborated that 7th pay commision is the genuine right of all employees and depriving a chunk of teachers is violation of human rights.

Meanwhile, in Reasi a number of ReT teachers sat in protest under the leadership of district president JKReTTF Bahadur Singh Rasyal. 

Chairman Bharat Singh Nag, zonal president Arnas Rajesh Thakur, vice-president Pouni Bashir Bajard, Sushma Kumari, Karan Singh Salaria, Bachiter Singh Pouni, Joginder Sharma, Gulchain Singh, Mohammad Shayiad, Kuldeep Sharma and others participated in the protest.
