Edu deptt official comes to the rescue of students

A female official of the Education department, serving as a master, has come to the rescue of students of two prominent government schools in Gursai area of Mendhar tehsil bu donating infrastructure worth over Rs 2.7 lakh.

Shamim Akhter Jagal, the savior as she is called by the students, is a resident of Gursai and is married to Mohammad Bashir. Presently, she is posted at Government High School Pati Gursai, where she holds the charge of school head as well.

   

A school official, while talking to Greater Kashmir, informed that Jagal has donated several infrastructural items in the school in just one-and-a-half month of her tenure.

Details revealed that she has donated two sets of sofa for school office, a large table, an office chair for the headmaster, 2 office chairs, a water tank, 2 small tables, a corner table, a small corner, window curtains and 2 cupboards. Besides, she also paid for the repair of water pipeline to the school and mats in the corridors.

“The approximate cost of the infrastructure she has donated to the school is around Rs 1.7 lakh,” the official added.

Earlier, Jagal donated 90 desks to Government High School Ari, where she was posted before being transferred to GHS Pati Gursai.

Sharing her views with Greater Kashmir, Jagal said, “There was immense shortage of infrastructure in these two schools. There was an immediate need for desks at GHS Ari, while GHS Pati Gursai needed some added infrastructure. Instead of waiting, I thought about donating in a bid to do whatever I can,” adding, “I couldn’t have done anything without the support of my family.”
