The Education department Thursday withheld the salaries of ten officials for “callous approach towards duty”.
The orders for withholding the salaries were issued by the Chief Education Officer, Rajouri, Mohammad Ashraf Rather.
Officials said, “A departmental team, led by Chief Education Officer paid a surprise visit to High School, Thandapani, in Lower Hathal zone. During inspection, only one teacher was found performing duties during the morning assembly. The school headmaster was also shown on leave, but the leave application was not sanctioned by the competent authority. Plus, the headmaster had not even authorized an incharge to look after the affairs of the institution.”
They added, “A female teacher marked the entire staff on leave, but none of the leaves were properly sanctioned.”
Taking note, officials said, the salaries of school headmaster, two masters, a physical education master, a lab bearer and a class fourth employee have been withheld, while two Principals posted in the Chief Education Officer’s office have been directed to conduct an in-depth probe.
Meanwhile, during inspecting the records at Government High School Lamberi, it came to fore that some of the staff members had availed excess leaves, but proper entries had not been made in the service record, officials said, adding that it is a clear case of negligence on part of the concerned dealing assistant as well as the headmaster.
Officials said that the salaries of headmaster of GHS Lamberi as well as the concerned dealing assistant have been withheld and a probe has been ordered.
Furthermore, officials said, during inspection of Boys High School Siot, it came to fore that most of the staff is on a long leave, while the mid day meal was being cooked in the house of a cook instead of the institution.
It also came to fore that school headmaster allowed most of the staff to avail long leaves, without following all necessary codal formalities. Taking note of it, officials said, salary of school headmaster has been withheld and a probe has also ordered.
