Fire broke out in a forest located along the Line of Control in Balakote area of Mendhar on Tuesday, spreading panic among the residents.
Mohammad Tariq, a local, said, “The fire initially broke out on the other side of the LoC and spread to our side (Indian side) during the evening hours.”
He informed that a vast area along the LoC in Balakote belt has been engulfed by flames and the army has launched an operation to put out the flames.
There were no reports of any loss of life or injury in the fire breakout, till last reports poured in.
