Govt teacher found dead

Mystery shrouded the death of a middle-aged government teacher whose body was recovered near a water channel in Balnoi village of Mendhar, with his family alleging murder.

Reports said, “The body of a government teacher, identifiedas 54-year-old Mohammad Gulzar, son of Khan Mohammad and a resident of Mankote,was found lying near a water channel at Ghani-Balnoi village of Mendhar onThursday morning. The locals informed the police, who visited the spot and tookthe body into its possession.”

   

The body was shifted to sub-district hospital Mendhar by thepolice team, wherein medico-legal formalities were conducted, reports added.

Block medical officer, Mendhar, Dr Parvez Khan, whiletalking to Greater Kashmir, said, “The body was examined by team of doctors anda postmortem examination was conducted. Things will only be clear once thepostmortem report is received.”

Sub-divisional police officer, Mendhar, Neeraj Padyar, saidthat an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of death.

Meanwhile, family members of the deceased said that Gulzarwent to Poonch on Wednesday and did not return home. “He stayed at a friend’shouse for the night. Next morning, his body was recovered,” they said.

They alleged that Gulzar was murdered as his body allegedlybore “injury marks”.
