‘Govt teachers attached in offices for clerical work’

Amid dearth of teaching staff in government schools across Rajouri, especially in Khawas, Peeri, Moughla and Kotranka zones, a number of government teachers and regularized Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers have been posted in offices of the Education department, including zonal education offices and chief education office.

Highly placed sources told Greater Kashmir, “In all fifteeneducation zonal offices across the district, teachers have been attached onboth official and unofficial basis. These teachers are performing clericalworks.”

   

They said, “Majority of such teachers are drawing theirsalaries from posts of different schools, even after serving in offices. Suchofficials even remain immune to multiple detachment orders issued by theauthorities.”

Citing examples, sources said, “Five teachers are attachedin district chief education office Rajouri, two in zonal education officeBaljarallan and two in Kalakote education zone office. Some of these teachersare serving in these offices from years together.”

Meanwhile, the Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum has called fordetachment of all teachers attached in offices of the department.

In a press statement, district president of ReTTF, AftabTantray, said, “Many blue eyed and influential teachers are attached in officesmaking them skip their teaching job. They enjoy being attached in offices,while the district suffers through dearth of teachers.”

He said, “Dozens of teachers are performing clerical work inoffices, which is a cause of concern and higher authorities should take note ofit.”
