Inclement weather: Several structures damaged in Poonch

 Inclement weather again wreaked havoc across Poonch and Reasi districts, as several structures suffered damages, while many roads were blocked.

In Poonch district, several structures, including houses and cattle sheds, suffered damages due to landslides amid incessant rainfall.

   

An official told Greater Kashmir that around fourteen structures have received partial damages across the district. However, the major loss has been suffered in Chamber village of Mandi, where four houses collapsed due to heavy rainfall last night.

The sarpanch of village said that the collapsed houses were owned by Abdul Suban, Abdul Hafiz, Manzoor Ahmed and Sara Begum. However, no loss of life was reported. 

Meanwhile, the road between Mandi and Saujiyan was closed after a road side protection wall collapsed on Thursday evening. The road was restored for light motor vehicles on Friday evening.

In Reasi district, several roads were blocked due to landslides. Among these, Mahore-Gulabgarh road was blocked at Bhal, Mahore-Gool road at Sajroo, Mahore-Rajouri road at Dhamni.

The naibsarpanch from Nihoch, Bashir Malik, told Greater Kashmir that due to fresh snowfall and rains, more than 15 houses were damaged in his panchayat. 

Similarly, the residents of Jamaslan, Sildhar, Bathoi, Angralla, Tukson, Shadol, Khor, Lar, Baransal, Gulabgarh, Kaidoora, Dewal, Shabrass, Bagodass, Bagankote, Shikari and Channa also complained of heavy losses to houses. 

They appealed to the administration to depute a team to the villages, in order to ascertain the damages, besides sanctioning adequate compensation to the affected families.
