India-Pak forces exchange gunfire along LoC in Rajouri

Intense firing and shelling along the Line of Control in Nowshera area of Rajouri district triggered panic in several villages on Wednesday, local residents said.

A source said at around 6pm, forces from both India and Pakistan exchanged small arms fire as well as mortar shelling at Baba Khori area.

   

However, the source said, the situation turned tense at around 7.15pm when firing started in Kalal area of Nowshera.

Intense shelling started in Kalal which later spread to other areas, the source said.

Many areas along the LoC in Nowshera including Baba Khori, Kalal, Deeing, Ganaya witnessed an intense phase of shelling when this report was filed late on Wednesday.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and so far there are no reports of any loss,” deputy commissioner Rajouri Muhammad Aijaz Assad said.
