Iqbal Malik quits Congress

In a major setback to the Congress in Rajouri district, senior leader and executive member of Pardesh Congress Committee, Mohammad Iqbal Malik, Sunday resigned from the basic membership of the party.

Malik, who is a retired bureaucrat, has previously contested assembly polls from Darhal assembly segment twice on the Congress’ mandate.

In his resignation letter, a copy of which is with Greater Kashmir, Malik states, “The party leadership has gone into coma. Nobody is here to hear our grievances.”

On being contacted, he told Greater Kashmir that even after serving in the party for so long, there “seems to be no one to listen to our grievances and talk about future policies”.

“We have been serving people on the ground while our party’s leadership is in coma,” he said.
