Man held for wife's murder, injuring daughter

Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a man on charges of murdering wife and injuring daughter at Kharak village here whereas three other persons have been taken into custody for questioning.

In his official statement, Senior Superintendent of Police, Yougal Manhas said that on Monday afternoon, an information was received at police station Kalakote that a woman Neelam Devi and her daughter Anita Devi have received critical injuries inside their house and had been taken to Sunderbani sub district hospital where Devi succumbed while daughter Anita was referred to GMCH Jammu in a critical condition.

Police team from Kalakote police station headed by SHO Tahir Khan started investigation into the matter. The preliminary enquiry has concluded that the husband of the woman had allegedly beaten her and the daughter.

“Later, raids were carried out and the alleged accused Kartar Chand was arrested from a forest area of the village while weapon of offence, an iron pipe has been seized,” SSP said.

A case under relevant sections of law including charges of murder have been registered at Kalakote police station, he added. The SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas added that three other relatives of the man have been taken into custody for questioning into the matter.
