Militant hideout busted in Rajouri: Police

Rajouri police busted a militant hideout in Chatyari forest area in this district and recovered arms and ammunition including four automatic assault rifles, police said.

Addressing a press conference at district police lines here,SSP YougalManhas said that based on specific information, an operation waslaunched by police Tuesday late evening at Chatyari forest area in Rajouri.

   

“In the operation which continued throughout the day(Wednesday), entire forest area was put to physical search during which amilitant hideout was unearthed and busted by police recovering huge quantity ofarms and ammunition,” the SSP said.

He said the recoveries from the hideout included 1 AK56 and3 AK47 automatic assault rifles, 11 pistols including 2 modified, 8 magazinesof AK rifle, 21 pistol magazines,  2modified pistol magazines,  606 AK roundsand 36 pistol rounds.

He said the militants had stored the recovered arms andammunition underground in the hideout apparently to use it for some majorstrike “but their plot has been foiled by police”.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered atPolice Station Rajouri and investigation taken up.
