Nowshera day celebrations on Feb 6

Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Record Offices, ECHS, Agriculture, Horticulture, Education, Animal Husbandry, Banks (SBI & PNB) and LIC & DHLF Insurance are likely to be part of the Mela.

The Indian army today announced to celebrate Nowshera Day on February 6 at Nowshera Garrison and the arrangements for the day are under progress.

 

As per press release, to celebrate the Nowshera Day, a series of events have been arranged.

 

The events includes Essay writing and Painting competition for children of various ages, Nowshera Cup Volleyball Competition between teams of various villages and Veteran Rally for the veterans and veernaris  of Nowshera sector. 

 

The rally in this regard will be held on February 5 and would be addressed by Major General Saranjeet Singh, General Officer Commanding, Ace of Spades Division, who would most probably address the problems being faced by the Veterans, veer naris and their dependents. He will also give them an insight into opportunities post retirement in the civil arena.

The Nowshera Day will be celebrated to mark the gallant action fought by the Indian Army to save Nowhsera from Pakistani raiders during 1947-48. On this day a Wreath Laying Ceremony will be done by Lt Gen DS Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command to honour Naik Jadunath Singh, PVC, the “Saviour of Naoshera”, and other brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the motherland.

 

This will be followed by a Cultural programme by school students and a Felicitation Ceremony.  On this day Bal Sainiks, Decorated War Veterans, Veer Naries, meritorious children of Veterans, mine casualty victims, Operation Megh Rahat flood victims and economically weaker sections of the society will also be felicitated.
