Number of casualties highest in Modi rule: Azad

RCongress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad Tuesday addressed public rallies in Kotranka and Surankote areas.

The senior leader said the number of casualties due to crossborder firing was highest in five years of Modi rule and more than 5000ceasefire violations have taken place.

   

He said that decision of National Conference to contestelections in coordination with Congress was appreciable.

He also thanked the PDP for its decision not to fieldcandidates despite not having alliance with Congress.

Meanwhile, a chopper carrying Ghulam Nabi Azad to apolitical rally in Lam Darhal area of Rajouri failed to land due to firing onthe Line of Control.

Deputy commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Assad, said thatthe permission to hold the rally was allotted by authorities but securityagencies on the ground have to decide such things in situations like crossborder firing.

Chief spokesman of pradesh Congress committee, RavinderSharma, asked, “What kind of risk was there due to which chopper landing wasnot allowed at Qila Darhal which is very much inside Line of Control?”

“We have suspicion that the step was taken on the behest of Bhartiya Janta Party which is not happy due to public following of Congress party,” he added.
