Officer among 2 soldiers injured in LoC explosions

A lieutenant colonel-rank officer and a havaldar were injured in two separate landmine explosions on the Line of Control in Lam area of Rajouri district, official sources said Sunday.

The first incident took place on a forward location in Lam when an army patrol was moving through the area. A lieutenant colonel, who was part of the patrol team, got injured and was shifted to nearby hospital, an official source said.

Another blast also took place near the same area, the source said, injuring a solider of the rank of havaldar.

“Both incidents took place after these soldiers accidentally stepped on landmines laid on LoC to thwart incidents of infiltration,” the source said.

The injured soldiers are from the same unit and have suffered injuries in lower parts of limbs. “They are out of danger.”
