The residents of Mendhar are irked over “overflowing drains” in the main market area.
The locals, including Balram Sharma, Sanjay Sasan and Mohammad Ibrahim, among others, said, “A drain had been constructed in the main town, through which sewage water was flowing since the past several decades. Now, the flow of water had been diverted by the concerned authorities, resulting in overflow.”
They added, “Due to the diversion, the unhygienic drain has overflowed and the road heading towards Mendhar police station, sub-divisional magistrate’s office and local court complex, is submerged. This has caused serious concern among the hundreds of people who commute on the road every day. Besides, the murky water is also entering business establishments.”
The locals urged upon the district administration to look into the issue and redress their grievance.
