Pak army shells forwards posts, villages in Poonch: Army

Pakistan army on Tuesday resorted to shelling and firing on the forward posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in this district, an army spokesperson said.

The spokesperson, Lt Col DevanderAnand said on Tuesdaymorning, a ceasefire violation started in Poonch sector with Pakistan armyresorting to unprovoked firing using small arms and mortar shells.

   

He said after more than three hours of intense firing andshelling, there was a lull, but the shelling resumed in the evening at 5 pm.

“Since then, intense shelling is going on in the areasof Shahpur, Kirni, Qasba and other nearby villages of Poonch sector,” saidthe officials, adding there was however no report of any casualty during theshelling.

The spokesperson said the army retaliated befittingly. Theshelling between the two sides was going on when this report was filed.
