The people living close to Rajouri sports stadium on Tuesday staged a protest against the local municipal committee.
The protesters assembled on Rajouri-Thannamandi road, infront of the sports stadium and blocked it. They also raised slogans againstthe municipal committee.
They accused the municipal committee of “negligence”.
“A few days ago, a team of municipal committee visited ourlocality and removed debris from road. They threw it in the main drain andassured that the debris will be removed after two days,” they alleged.
“No one from the municipal committee returned to clearthe drains. Subsequently, during recent rains, the drains were choked andrainwater entered our houses. As a result, the shops also receiveddamage,” they said.
They accused the municipal committee of working”unsatisfactorily” and the higher authorities should take note.
After a half-hour-long protest, Station House Officer,Rajouri, Ajaz Haider, reached the spot and pacified the protesters, assuringthem that the matter will be taken up with concerned authorities. On thisassurance, the protest was called off.
