Rajouri zone teachers demand pending wages

Around 250 government teachers posted in primary and middle schools of Rajouri education zone are working without salaries since the past one-and-a-half months.

While talking to Greater Kashmir, a number of teachers, while wishing anonymity, said, “Generally, we receive our salaries before the 10th of every month, but we haven’t received our salary of April yet. And it is already May 19.”

“We are not even aware about the reason behind the inordinate delay. Whenever we have tried to inquire from the zonal education office, we fail to receive a proper response,” they said, adding that the delay in salary disbursement is leading to financial crisis.

The teachers sought the intervention of the higher authorities and said that matter is well in the knowledge of chief education office, but “nothing has yet been done”.

Both Zonal Education Officer Rajouri and Chief Education Officer could not be contacted for their comments.
