Rajouri zone teachers demand pending wages

Around 250 government teachers posted in primary and middle schools of Rajouri education zone are working without salaries since the past one-and-a-half months.

While talking to Greater Kashmir, a number of teachers,while wishing anonymity, said, “Generally, we receive our salaries before the10th of every month, but we haven’t received our salary of April yet. And it isalready May 19.”

   

“We are not even aware about the reason behind theinordinate delay. Whenever we have tried to inquire from the zonal educationoffice, we fail to receive a proper response,” they said, adding that the delayin salary disbursement is leading to financial crisis.

The teachers sought the intervention of the higherauthorities and said that matter is well in the knowledge of chief educationoffice, but “nothing has yet been done”.

Both Zonal Education Officer Rajouri and Chief EducationOfficer could not be contacted for their comments.
