Repair govt middle school, demand Gambhir Mughlan residents

The residents of Gambhir Mughlan village in Manjakote tehsil Thursday demanded the repair of damaged two rooms of the local Government Middle School.

The residents, including Sayeed Mughal, chairman of a non-governmental organisation, said, “Government Middle School in GambhirMughlan is one of the oldest schools in the area, but it lies dilapidated due to official apathy. The government has sufficient funds to construct parks and other infrastructure, but they say that they are reeling under scarcity of funds when we demand the school building to be repaired.”

He added that two rooms of the school are partially damaged and require immediate repair.

The other residents claimed that about 200 students are enrolled in the school, but there are only five rooms out of which two lie partially damaged. “This leads to severe issues in accommodation,” they maintained.

The residents appealed to the governor and deputy commissioner Rajouri to take appropriate action and get the dilapidated school building repaired.

On being contacted, incharge zonal education officer, Manjakote, LalHussain, said that the issue has already been taken up with higher authorities. “We have also submitted a report for the repair of the two rooms, which lie partially  damaged,” he said, while accepting that the damaged rooms are leading to severe problems for the students.
