SCHOOL UP-GRADATION ROW

Irked over “no response” from government authorities towards their demand of up-gradation of local high school, the residents of Pathanateer village in Poonch’s Mendhar sub-division Friday said that they have decided to “boycott” the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections as a “mark of protest”.

Abdul Rehman Chowdhary and Sayeed Fasil Shah, residents ofthe village, said, “We have been demanding the up-gradation of the local highschool since years together, but the authorities do not seem to be bothered. Noone has come up to the rescue of our children, who are facing severe hardshipsdue to official apathy.”

   

They further said that since the last three weeks, multipleprotests have been staged by the residents, but the concerned authorities seemunbothered.

“The local civil society held a meeting today and we allhave decided we will boycott the parliamentary polls. No one will cast a voteas a mark of protest,” the residents said.
