Seminar on drug abuse held at Mandi

A daylong seminar on ‘rise of drug abuse among youth of Pir Panchal’ was held, here at Mandi on Sunday.

The seminar was held on the directions of M Raju, excisecommissioner, and deputy excise commissioner S Amarjeet Singh. It was organizedjointly by the excise department, in association with Youth Association forService of Humanity and Nation (YASHN).

   

Speaking on the occasion, inspector excise sub-range,Poonch, Mohammad Arif explained the reasons behind drug addiction and itsconsequences, including health hazard, risk involved and penal provisions underNDPS Act.

Imtiaz Salaria, president YASHN, appealed to the civilsociety, parents and religious scholars to come forward and create awarenessregarding the menace and to uproot it from the region.

Speaking on the occasion, commandant 137 Bn BSF GajrajYadav, prominent leaders Taj Mir and Bar association president, Poonch, alsoappealed the parents to keep a watch on their wards and their activities on adaily basis.

Pardeep Khana, Varinder Singh Pawar, Farooq Ahmed Tanha,Mudasir Bhukhari, Hamid Nabaaz, Dr Mohammad Qayoom, Dr Mohammad Abaas, MohammedFarooq Khan, Abrar Akhter, Imran Gani, Mohammed Pervaiz, Ruksar Akhter and SajaadAhmed also spoke on the occasion.
