Sunderbani residents protest over power crisis

Residents of Sunderbani area of Rajouri district on Sunday staged a demonstration to lodge their protest against power crisis in their area.

The protest was started in the main market by local traders, who were irked over prevailing power crisis. They raised slogans against the Power Development department and said that the large scale unscheduled power curtailment has left them high and dry.

“PDD officers have been neglecting their duties due to which the problem is swelling,” they alleged.

Later, the agitating traders moved to Power Receiving Station Sunderbani, where they continued their protest.

Later, a team of police and some concerned officials reached the spot and pacified the protesters, informing them that some necessary repairs are being carried out in PDD station Kalakote, due to which there is going to be power curtailment for some time. They also assured that once the necessary repairs are done, unscheduled power curtailment will come to an end.

After the assurance, the protest was called off.
