Expressing anguish over the role of J&K government, Bhallesi said that Urdu is an official language of J&K, but no Urdu University exists in the state.
Demanding Urdu University in J&K, Tehreek Baqa-e-Urdu (TBU) today said that their organization will launch a campaign for having such University in Jammu & Kashmir as Urdu is an official language of the state and it must be provided justice by government.
Addressing Press Conference at Rajouri, TBU Spokesman & Central General Secretary Zakir Malik Bhallesi along with Vice President Mohammad Sagheer Mirza and District Secretary Yasir Amin has demanded opening of Urdu University in J&K.
Giving examples of other states, Central General Secretary, Zakir Malik Bhallesi said that Urdu is not an official language of Uttar Pradesh or Telangana states but these states have Urdu Universities established since long and these Universities are working very well.
He said that in UP, there is Moin-ud-Din Chesti Urdu Farsi University besides Jamia Urdu Aligarh which are playing vital role for promotion of Urdu language. He added that Maulana Azad National Urdu University is also renowned University of India in Telangana which is playing vital role in Urdu teaching and research.
Expressing anguish over the role of J&K government, Bhallesi said that Urdu is an official language of J&K, but no Urdu University exists in the state. He said that opening of an Urdu University will boost the official language in the state and Governor NN Vohra should consider this demand of the TBU.
He said that under the guidance of TBU Patron Farooq Shah Bukhari and President Irfan Ali Arif, they are going to launch campaign in support of Urdu University in J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice President Mohammad Sagheer Mirza said that TBU deputation in this regard is likely to meet Governor soon in which a formal request for establishing Urdu University will be made.
He added that Urdu was declared as official by Dogra Maharajas in this state and that is why TBU is conferring yearly award on Urdu on the name of Maharaja Partap Singh. He added that it is the duty of every citizen of Jammu & Kashmir to boost their official language and government should also come forward to provide justice to this language.
Meanwhile, District Secretary Rajouri Yasir Amin also highlighted the need of Urdu University and appealed all people of Jammu & Kashmir to support this demand. He added that thousands of students want to opt Urdu but they get little opportunities in the Universities of J&K which forced them to move outside the state.
He added that a University of Urdu in J&K can provide sufficient help to the students who aspire to learn Urdu and do research on this language.
