Truce violations continue in Mendhar, Nowshera, soldier injured

With no let up in prevailing tension on Line of Control, ceasefire violation and cross border firing continues in Mendhar area of Poonch and Kalal in Nowshera and an army jawan sustained injury near LoC in Baba Khori Nowshera.

As   per official reports, cross border firing started in Mankote and some other areas of Mendhar this evening and heavy mortar shelling was going on when last reports poured in.

   

“Pakistani army resorted to sudden firing initially drawing retaliation from Indian side leading to fierce exchange of mortar shells which was going on when last reports were received ” official reports revealed. 

As per these reports, villages affected by this shelling include Dabraj, Dobi Camp, Nar Mankote, Balnoi and shells are falling in these villages.

Meanwhile, an army personnel deployed along Line of Control in Baba Khori area of Nowshera, got injured in a brief exchange of firing last night.

“Brief exchange of fire took place last night in Baba Khori and an army jawan deployed on a forward post sustained injury in knee and was shifted to army hospital” said sources.

Meanwhile, army also organised a wreath laying ceremony in honour of Naik Jagadish, who laid down his life guarding the Nation’s frontiers while serving at the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector of Mendhar.

A military send off was organized, wherein, GOC Ace of Spades Division among other military dignitaries, laid wreaths on behalf of Lt Gen D Anbu, Army Commander, Northern Command and Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh, GOC White Knight Corps, said army.  

Naik Jagadish, aged 34 years, belonged to Village.  Gandashu, Post Office Thirpak, PS Nandprayag, District Chamoli and is survived by his wife Smt Usha devi and two young children.

Pertinent here to mention that tension is prevailing on Line of Control from last more than one and a half week with four army jawan have lost their lives so far besides injuries to several other personals as well as civilians.

Educational institutions in shelling affected areas of Rajouri and Poonch have also been kept closed.
