Army soldier injured in mine explosion
An army soldier deployed on a forward location of Line of Control in Sunderbani Daddal area in Rajouri district received multiple injuries in a landmine explosion on Friday.
Sources said the explosion took place in the morning hours and the soldier received injuries in his lower limbs.
"He was immediately removed for medical aid to a local army medical centre and was later airlifted to higher hospital for specialised treatment," sources said.
They said the explosion took place after the soldier accidentally stepped over a anti-personal landmine.
Meanwhile, there was uneasy calm on the LoC today in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
A police official said no fresh incident of cross LoC firing or shelling has been reported from the LoC area on Friday.
It may be recalled that Indo-Pak armies exchanged heavy fire including mortar shelling in Lam and Veer Badreshwar areas of Rajouri district on Thursday in which a civilian also got injured.
