Five months have passed since the Higher Secondary School Niaka Panjgrian in Tarkundi Gambhir village along the LoC was upgraded, the inhabitants of the area claimed that the school is still awaiting the posting of Principal, some subject specific lecturers and other staff required to run the affairs.
They warned that in case Education Department and District Administration fail to post the required staff in the school, they will launch a “coercive agitation” in the days to come and for all the repercussions, only government will be held responsible.
Sarpanch of the area, Abdul Hussain and other Civil Society members including Naib Sarpanch Mohammad Younis, Zamurd Khan, Mahroof Khan, Zakir Hussain, Mohammad Bashir and others said that the school was upgraded in the month of March this year and first batch of 11th class comprising 22 students was also started.
“But till date, even the post of Principal, some posts of subject-specific teachers and other staff have not been fulfilled ,” they said.
“Under such circumstances, the future of our children is at stake,” they added.
According to villagers, four months of this session have passed and only six months are left for the examination of 11th class students.
“And if the required staff strength is not fulfilled in this month, the result of our wards will be affected. But it seems the Education Department has turned a deaf ear towards the pleas of the villagers,” Sarpanch of the area, Abdul Hussain said, adding, “We’d brought this matter to the notice of CEO Rajouri. He’d assured that he would discuss about our issues with higher authorities, but till date, we haven’t heard from the CEO office.”
When contacted, DC Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, said, “Recently a delegation of the area met me and discussed their issues threadbare. I have issued directions to CEO office Rajouri to submit a report so that some internal arrangement can be made to ensure that students don’t suffer.”
Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta said that the department will post the staff in the school soon.
