The local police on Thursday claimed to have arrested the main accused, who was wanted in the woman-daughter duo assault case, a video of which had also gone viral on social media.
The police said, “The main accused, Pawan Kumar @Pamma, son of Dawarka Nath and a resident of Tandwal Crusher Morh, was wanted in the case and he was finally arrested. The man had assaulted the woman and her daughter, his neighbors, and had been on the run ever since.”
The police arrested the accused from a hideout in Kathua in Mahreen tehsil.
“On the directions of Yougal Manhas, SSP Rajouri, and with the help of Kathua police, a team of Rajouri police, led by HC Nafees Ul Hassan along with SGCT Altaf Hussain, Ct Abdul Rashid and Ct Rayaz Ahmed, under the supervision of SI Danish Maqbool raided the hideout during the night and arrested the accused. The accused was brought to Rajouri and after legal formalities has been remanded to Police Custody,” a senior officer said.
The police are trying to arrest other accused named in the FIR.
