HizbulMujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin on Monday appealed to Kashmir Bar Association and civil society activists in Kashmir to hold an independent and impartial probe into the properties owned by his children 30 years ago and today to unfold actual position.
“The Bar Association and civil society should play their role in sifting truth from falsehood by presenting the comparative review in this regard before the nation,” he said.
Salahuddin maintained that those who had dedicated their whole lives to upholding the word of God and freedom of Kashmir would not prefer petty worldly gains over the eternal life hereafter.
“History has already proven this reality with regard to such persons and Allah willing same will happen now,” he said.
Salahuddin pointed out that he had been away from his family for the past three decades and entire Kashmiri nation knew it well that none of his relations had any involvement in the financial matters of the struggle.
“Allah be praised I have clean hands… The malicious campaign being launched by Indian agencies in this regard is extremely condemnable,” he said.
Salahuddin said “Indian agencies were constantly victimising his family members to force him abandon his pro-freedom activities” but added that “they will have to cut a sorry figure.”
The statement by Syed Salahuddin came in the wake of arrest of his son Syed Shakil Ahmad by National Investigation Agency (NIA) during a night raid at his residence in Rambagh area of Srinagar on Thursday last in a funding case.
Ahmad, who is working as a lab technician in a health facility in Srinagar, was shifted to Tihar Jail in New Delhi.
In October last year, the NIA had arrested Ahmad’s elder sibling Syed ShahidYousuf, an employee of the agriculture department, in the same case, who has also been languishing in Tihar Jail ever since. Salahuddin said “taking revenge from his children and family members and staining his pro-freedom character” would not weaken his “resolve to pursue the ongoing struggle for emancipation of Kashmiri people from Indian slavery.”
“Neither would such nefarious attempts undermine the trust of pro-freedom Kashmiri people in their leadership,” he added.
