The 60th under-19 National School Games organized by the Youth Services and Sports Department for both boys and girls under the aegis of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) culminated here today.
As per a statement, the Speed ball event, concluded at M V International School Samba which was attended by Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K, Naveen Aggarwal, while Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu and District Development Commissioner, Samba, Sheetal Nanda were the guests of honour.
Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K while highlighting the importance of games and sports said that these are very important for the students as they not only prove good exercises but also help to build fine physique for the boys and girls. The sports keep them mentally and physically strong besides students learn to cope with difficult situations, he said.
Meanwhile, at Kathua, the 60th National School Games in Roll Ball under-19 years Boys and Girls category culminated at DPS Rajbagh today. Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu who was the chief guest while speaking on the occasion said that the idea behind organizing the National School Games in districts other than Jammu or Srinagar is to give glimpse of the National Games to the youngsters of other districts also. He said such events not only give exposure but also an opportunity to budding sports talent of these areas. He hailed the players for showing good sportsmanship during the event.
