Afridi becomes first Pakistani to take 300 T20 wickets

Former captain and all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Friday became the first ever Pakistani to bag 300 T20 wickets.

Afridi, 38, reached the milestone during his team Karachi Kings’ PSL league match against Islamabad United.

His 300th scalp came after a quicker delivery that smashed into Chadwick Walton’s stumps, with the triumphant spinner celebrating the feat in his trademark style.

Earlier  Shahid Afridi clean bowled Islamabad United’s Misbah-ul-Haq in a Pakistan Super League match on Friday to take his 299th T20 wicket but did not celebrate out of respect for the former Pakistan captain. In his next over, Afridi clean bowled Chadwick Walton.

West Indies all rounder Dwayne Bravo became the first bowler to claim 300 or more wickets in Twenty20 cricket. Playing for Gujarat Lions in 2016, in an Indian Premier League match against Kings XI Punjab, Bravo picked 4 for 22 in a match-winning performance at Mohali.

KXIP captain David Miller was deceived by one of his deadly slow yorker that evaded his defenses to crash on the stumps which made Bravo the first to 300 T20 wickets as he edged past Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga who is stuck on 299 scalps from 221 matches.
