Aggarwal convenes YSS officers' meet

The DG urged the officers to provide opportunity for at least 3 outdoor and 2 indoor games to students of every school in the state.

In order to finalise the calendar of sports and youth activities for the ensuing year, a meeting of all District Youth Services and Sports Officers of the state was held under the chairmanship of Director General of the Department, Navin Aggarwal, here.

Speaking to the officers, Aggarwal emphasized upon officers that they should encourage budding players and develop their talent to capitulate them at the national level.

"We also need to take care of underprivileged school children so that each school going child takes part in at least one sport each, as per his or her ability and gets selected in the school team for that game",  a statement issued here said quoting Aggarwal.

The DG urged the officers to provide opportunity for at least 3 outdoor and 2 indoor games to students of every school in the state.

“During the course of deliberations it was decided that during the year 2015-16, district level inter- school competitions will be held in only those disciplines which are most popularly played in schools, and in every competition at least 10 schools should take part to make the contest meaningful”, the statement said.

For the state level inter district competitions only those disciplines would be taken up which have duly selected district level teams in at least 8 districts or in which medals were obtained by J&K during the 60th National School Games, it added.
