Ahmad and Haris Khan Charitable Trust Thursday organized T-20 cricket tournament at Seer Hamdan in Anantnag district.
The event was inaugurated by former J&K Bank and ChenabValley Development Corporation chairman M Y Khan.
Twelve teams from Seer, Aishmuquam, Mattan, Salia,Srigufara, Hasannoor, Gopalpora, Nagabal, Fohar and Akad are participating inthe tournament.
A complete cricket kits including bats, gloves, leg guards,tracksuits, gloves, caps, and helmets were given to each team.
The Trust has been organizing such tournaments since 2012and today was the seventh such event.
The inaugural match was played between Srigufuwara andSalia.
“Our trust is doing its best to promote sportsactivities in Seer and help in nurturing the talent,” said Khan.
“We are arranging coaching and other facilities for ouryoung budding cricketers to groom their talent. Seer is my birthplace and Iwant to do whatever I can for the people of this area and it is this urge whichinspired me to set up this trust,” said Khan.
“I have dedicated this trust to my late father whom Iowe a lot and as such, it is housed in our ancestral house here in Seer”.
Khan said the focus of the trust has been on girl education,their employment, health care and sports.Khan was also accompanied by his wife MehboobaKhan.
