Annual Football League | Floodlight failure at TRC Astroturf forces cancellation of premier division football match

The first ever official football played under the floodlights at Synthetic turf TRC ground Srinagar on Tuesday was called off due to ‘technical fault’ in the floodlights.

J&K Football Association hosted its first ever officialpremier division match under floodlights at TRC on Wednesday as part of theongoing annual football league.

   

The match was played between AG’s-XI and Kashmir MaharajaSports and it had to be called off in second half due to floodlight failure.

“It was the first ever official match played underfloodlights at TRC and the spectators cherished the moments. However,unfortunately there was a power breakdown repeatedly because of a technicalfault. The match was called-off and could not be completed.  AG’s-XI was leading by one goal when matchwas called –off,” read JKFA statement.

The high-end floodlights were inaugurated last month in ahigh profile function with exhibition match played between J&K-XI againstsome former Indian football team players who were invited by J&K StateSports Council for the inaugural exhibition match. Even during the inauguralmatch, there were a couple of interruptions due to breakdown of lights.

While inaugural match was unofficial exhibition match, thefirst official match played under lights in Kashmir was called-off onWednesday.
