BCCI Awards: ParvezRasool receives best all-rounder award

International cricketer and J&K Ranji trophy skipper on Tuesday evening received the LalaAmarnath award for best all-rounder in Ranji trophy second time in his career.

In a glittering award function titled ‘Naman’ organised by BCCI in Bangalore on Tuesday, awards for the exemplary performances during seasons 2016-17 and 2017-18 were given. The function was attended by almost all the top cricketers of country besides Afghanistan squad as well as former England cricketer Kevin Peterson.

   

The star all-rounder of J&K received award for the best all-rounder during 2016-17 Ranji trophy season. He received award from former Indian cricketer and current team India coach Ravi Shastri. The prestigious award is named after the legendary Indian cricketer LalaAmarnathBharadwaj who was the first batsman ever to score a century for India in test cricket. He was independent India’s first cricket captain and captained India in the first test series win against Pakistan in 1952.

This for the second time in his career that ParvezRasool has bagged this award as last time he got it in 2013-14 season. In 2016-17 season, ParvezRasool amassed 629 runs and took 38 wickets for J&K in Ranji trophy. With the backing of those stats he was top all-rounder in Ranji trophy for the season. In 2017-18 season ParvezRasool continued his consistent performance scoring 350 plus and taking 28 wickets for the J&K. He was this season third best all-rounder in country.

Expressing his delight on receiving the prestigious award ParvezRasool said, “All praises to Allah, I am happy to receive award second time in my career in front of all the top cricketers of India. When I got this award in 2013-14 season, I was first ever cricketer from J&K to get that and now it is second time I have bagged it. It is really a big honor to be recognized as best all-round cricketer in entire country”.

“I dedicate this award to people of Kashmir who have been supportive of me throughout my career. Without their love and motivation provided I would not have been able to do it,” he said.
