Two former cricketers Majid Yaqoob Dar , Nissar Ahmad Khan have filed a contempt petition through Advocate Altaf Haqani

Seeking directions for initiating  contempt proceedings against the concerned for disobeying the order passed by the court on February 6, 2018.

On Februavry6, the court had closed the Public Interest Litigation after CBI had sought one month’s time to finalize the probe. The court had granted the time to the investigating agency.

The petitioners plead that the respondents have undermined the dignity of the court by willfully violating the order dated 6-2-2018. “Despite the expiry of more than one month, no final report has been filed,” they said.

In its report the CBI in February this year had said that the evidence had been collected, analyzed and evaluated and a final report would be filed in the competent court.

The CBI had also informed the court that it had come to know how Rs 42 crores have been embezzled and is now probing more 36 crores.

On 3 September 2015, the High Court had handed over the probe to the CBI after pulling up the police for a tardy investigation.  The CBI was granted three months to complete the probe.

The CBI, the court had said, was handed the case keeping in view the quantum and magnitude of the scam and failure of the police to conduct the probe with fairness and without inordinate delay.

Two former cricketers—Majid Yaqoob Dar, a former Ranji Trophy player, and Nissar Ahmad Khan, a club level cricketer—had filed a Public Interest seeking directions to probe the alleged scam in the JKCA.
