Chinar Cup-Night Football: DPS Srinagar book place in final

Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar booked its place in the final of the Night Football tournament titled Chinar Cup after winning the first semifinal of the tournament played on Thursday evening against Green Valley Educational Institute. 

In a high intensity match in which both the teams did not cede even an inch to the opponent and remained locked at 0-0 during regular time, ultimately the game was decided on penalties. Hosts DPS Srinagar defeated Green Valley Educational Institute in penalty shootout by 4-3 goals.

   

Uzair Tak – the goalkeeper of DPS Srinagar put on a scintillating performance by saving two goals for which he was awarded man of the match.  

DPS Budgam wins quarterfinal

In another match of the event – quarter-final clash between DPS Budgam and tournament favorites Tyndale Biscoe School, it was DPS Budgam which emerged as the winner.

The match turned out to be another thriller as both the teams tried their best to defeat the opponent but in the regular time the match was tied at 1-1. The outcome of the match was yet again decided through tie-breaker during which DPS Budgam held its nerves to defeat Tyndale Biscoe by 4-3 goals. With this win, DPS Budgam booked their place into semi-final of the event. Goal Keeper Zahid of DPS Budgam was awarded man of the match for his outstanding performance.

This Under-19 level football tournament is organized by DPS Srinagar in which a total of 16 schools from various parts of valley are participating.
