A 27-member cycling expedition team under the banner ‘Sailab se Salamati Tak’ today interacted with Army Commander, Northern Command, Lt Gen DS Hooda, here.

A defence spokesman said the cycling expedition comprising 19 Kashmiri youths and a team of Army personnel will cycle to Delhi via Jammu, Jalandhar and Ambala after it had taken off from Srinagar recently.

“The group will pass through a number of historical places and is also likely to interact with the Governor of J&K, Senior Officers of the Army and the honorable President of India”, the spokesman said adding, “During their journey the participants will be creating awareness on literature, custom and traditions of Kashmir and will also highlight the bonhomie between the Army and the Awam displayed in rescue and relief operations during September 2014 floods in the Valley”.

The expedition has been undertaken to commemorate the joint rescue effort undertaken by the civilians and soldiers during the September floods last year, he added.
