DDC Kulgam Dr Shameem Ahmad Wani on Friday inaugurated football tournament at Ashmuji Kulgam under the scheme of sports for peace and development action plan 2018-19, under Khelo India programme at village Ashmuji, Kulgam here. The tournament is being organised by DYSS Office Kulgam.
Giving details of the event, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jawhara Parveen said that eight teams are participating in the event and same number of teams will participate in other major games which include volleyball, football, kabbadi, athletics and other disciplines. The event will continue for one month in the district.
Speaking on the occasion DDC Kulgam Dr Shameem Ahmad Wani said that the event is meant for all -round development of youth of the District. He also added that sports infrastructure in the district will be developed on modern lines to provide best play fields to the youth of district. In this connection, 116 play fields have been identified which will be developed soon for sports activities, including 16 mini- stadiums. DDC also urged the youth for active participation in all sports activities for their all-round development.
The others guests present on the occasion inlcuded ACR, Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah, Sports activities Incharge officer Mohammad Amin and other officers and officials of education department. Besides, a large number of students were present on the occasion.
