Discontinuing of Department Football Teams: NIFF concerned

National and International Footballers Forum (NIFF) J&K has expressed its concern over discontinuing of various department Football Teams in J&K.

In a statement NIFF said  “During the past there were around 10-15 departmental football teams providing jobs to the players and that was a reason of healthy competitions used to take place both in the regions of Jammu and Kashmir,” NIFF statement said.

“Teams like JKSRTC, Food & Supplies, Forest and many more were having the great fan following and people used to cover miles to watch their heroes playing. Apart from J&K Bank, J&K Police and AG’s Office, hardly any department is active and are offering jobs to the players. More than 10 departmental football teams like  Forest, Fire Service, Food and Supply, Municipality, Agro, Water works, R&B and many more discontinued their teams in the recent past ,” the statement said.

NIFF highlighted the plight of players who played for these teams and now have no future.

“It is really painful to see the players  of Forest and Food and Supplies Departments who played for these departments for as many as 15 years and have brought laurels to them in many tournaments within and outside J and K are holding daily protests demanding for their regularisation which they were promised for,” NIFF statement further said.

“We request the Lt Governor of J&K to kindly take note of this issue and direct the concerned departments to revive their football teams,” it added.
