DYSS kick starts its activities

After winter break the Department of Youth Services And Sports (DYSS), kick started its activities for the school students by conducting road races.

 The activities will start in all 22 districtsof the State. On Monday, District Youth Services And Sports office Budgamorganised a road race for the girls of all age groups.

   

The race was flagged-offby Assistant Divisional Mech. Eng. Northern Railways Varun Shankar. In Under-14age group category Shazia from BMS Khanpora bagged first position while asAliya from Ompora bagged second and Nadiya from GMS Razwen finished third.

In Under-17 category, Nelofar Majeed from GHS Ompora,Shafiqa Ahad from GHS Budgam and Jannat from Oxford School Budgam bagged firstthree positions respectively while as in Under-19 category Saima Nissar of GHSSBudgam, Aabida from HSS Humhama and Irtiqa from the same institution baggedfirst three positions respectively.

Director General DYSS,Dr. Saleem ur Rehman while congratulating the winners of the race has hoppedthat all the participating girl athletes would take the passion and interestfor games and sports to the next level and would take active part in othergames of their choice as well.

He further said that theDepartment is committed to channelize the energies and talent of our youngblood in a positive manner and it is a well known fact that sports inculcatethe qualities of discipline, honesty, patriotism and many such requiredqualities in a person which are mandatory for becoming a responsible andrespectable citizen.
